My process for working on this new series is so bonkers and I apologize 😅🙈
Last month I promised that I'd share more about the Ashen next time we spoke, but when I made that promise I didn't realize that this group of people wasn't really going to be in the series until the next book.
Oops...
On the one hand, I don't want to mislead anyone by sharing content that isn't related to the book that's currently on preorder.
On the other hand, I don't like the idea of backing out on a promise!
So for now I've decided to do a brief introduction to one of the many races in my upcoming series, A Delicate Betrayal! 😱😍
Allow me to introduce you to, The Ashen:
The Ashen
The Ashen are loosely inspired by dark elves and necromancers, though there are some unique differences.
Thousands of years ago, Grimtol was ruled by the Sky-Blessed, a race of winged beings who descended from the skies and were worshipped as gods...for a time. Eventually, the humans grew weary of their egos and demands for gifts, sacrifices, and worship. They rebelled against the Sky-Blessed—in a war that has yet to be named lol—and earned their sovereignty.
However, before the Sky-Blessed surrendered, many of them fell in battle, their bodies preserved in divine light so that they could be remembered and honored forever.
No one expected that they would one day rise from the dead. Their flesh like charcoal. Their wings singed to nubs. Their hearts never beating.
Like the rest of Grimtol, the Ashen don't know why they were resurrected or how, nor do they understand why they've been returned to an unlife, seemingly immortal and with the newfound powers of shadow and death magic.
But they know one thing: they'll do anything to locate and retrieve their missing souls...and their stolen wings.
Eeeeeee I wanna say more! But for now, I'll try to keep it light and just say that one of the main characters in the rest of the series is an Ashen and You're. Going. To. Freaking. Love. Her. 😍
